Friday February 22, 2019 – Surrey Place and our Toronto Autism Services partners want to assure our stakeholders that we continue to be committed to providing the highest quality and evidence based services to our clients and families living with autism. We understand and appreciate that this is a very difficult time and there are more questions than answers however, our focus remains on providing services to children with autism.
In light of some additional questions being raised by stakeholders in our community we want to be very clear that we have continued to provide services to clients and families that includes evidence based behavioural services and parent education. In October 2018, the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services did provide a new direction to service agencies and as a result we continued to provide Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) treatment for children and youth currently in service; based on clinical recommendations, and parent education that included access to Project ImPACT; parent workshops and individual coaching sessions with parents and children, aimed at increasing early social and communication skills. During this new period of service delivery, we have also been working very hard on providing the best possible family services by supporting families and providing consultations delivered by senior clinical staff as part of the Parent Consultation Clinic. We intend to continue working as hard as possible for the children and families we serve.
As more information becomes available from the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services we will be communicating with our families during the transition period.
